What is the platform configuration here? FM7 was available on Windows XP, Unix (Solaris) and possibly MACos. It also was a 32-bit app, and might have issues with 64-bit file system access.

To be a bit blunt, I'm impressed that FM7 runs at all on Win10/64.

Even when I had to run FM7 on Win7/64, I did so in a virtual machine running WinXP (the "XPMode" subsystem that Ms used to offer).

Given the configuration, the problem may thus be host environment issue, and not an FM issue. In any case, even if a real bug, Adobe likely provides zero support for FM7 these days.

What's preventing using a more recent FM version?

If you're sure you're the only one opening the file, then it's safe to delete the .lck file that's throwing this message - sometimes the file locks aren't released after saving and exiting out.
