    Meaghan,

The way it works (in brief):

The PS files created from FM contains a number of PDF marker (derived from FM markers etc.). These markers needs to be converted into PDF functionality (e.g. form fields).

To do this two files are need for ACROBAT DISTILLER: Prologue.ps and Epilogioe.ps. These files are supplied by TimeSavers!

FormAssistant is a kind of an add-on to TimesSavers.

FormAssistant alone does not contain epilogue.ps and epilogue.ps.

Defining PDF form fields in source FrameMaker files (with TimeSavers + Form Asst v3)

Adding form fields to PDFs in Acrobat manually is labor-intensive. Using FrameMaker-to-Acrobat TimeSavers & Form Assistant, you can take advantage of all of FrameMaker capabilities to author documents that, upon conversion to PDF, will automatically contain text fields, check boxes, radio buttons and additional controls.

With Form Assistant 3, markers can be inserted through a dialog box (FM10/11, as Extendscript is required).
This will also be demonstrated in the webinar.

This is exactly what I'm looking for.

Can anyone tell me if I require the Timesavers and the forms assistant, or just the form assistant? Thanks!

    Meaghan:

    From the website:

    >Form Assistant enables you to include the definitions of Acrobat fields in FrameMaker through hypertext markers, so that they are automatically present in the PDF file (FrameMaker-to-Acrobat TimeSavers required during distilling): buttons, check boxes, menus, radio buttons, text fields and digital signatures, with complete control over field properties (including active field highlighting and field calculation order). Also included: an AutoPopUp function, which defines automatically-sized variable width/depth popups.

    >Feature demos (distilled with TimeSavers+Form Assistant):

It clearly says that you need both.

Fields within the PDF that clients type their info into - often used in online forms :)

I'm looking to make a doc in FrameMaker that has blank fields clients can add info to, and checklists they can check when the doc is in PDF form.

    Hope this is clearer!
