FM 12 - Quick Element Toolbar

I'm giving the trial version of FM 12 a quick test. One thing I noticed right away is that I can't seem to actually open the new Quick Element toolbar. Selecting View > Toolbars > Quick Element Toolbar does nothing except place a (second) Help button in the toolbar. Checking the quick_element.xml config file for the workspace suggests that I should be seeing a handful of buttons for adding standard elements to the open file. Is there another setting that I'm missing?

I'm just using the default DITA template for FM 12. Nothing special there.

Thanks for any help.

The Quick Element Toolbar seems to be hardcoded to show (all items) only when the structured application is set to only these three DITA structured apps:

DITA_1.2_topic

DITA_1.2_task

DITA_1.2_concept

For all other structured aplications, it is set to only to the Help.

See the quick_element.xml file in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\FrameMaker\12\WorkSpaces\Structured\WYSIWYGView\toolbars

Thanks, Arnis. I'd looked at the config file but hadn't noticed that it restricted the structured applications that the Quick Element toolbar applied to. Looks like you can customize that to show up for other structured applications.

One mystery solved.

I tried to quickly change this to add the element buttons for all structure app cases, but it didn't seem to take hold, i.e. it's not as easy as it looks. There is some detail on working with the various FM config and XML file available at Klaus Daub's site:
