FM 2022 Paragraph Styles Not Publishing Properly

I have had two major ongoing issues since upgrading to Framemaker 2022 from 2020. The first I have found a workaround for, although I am still trying to figure out the reason, the second is below. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem or has a solution.

I work on a User Guide that has a healthy catalog of paragraph styles and we do utilize the reference page for a feature on the advanced tab of the paragraph designer tool.

Here is what the settings look like (first two images). The third image is that paragraph style as it appears in FM (as it should). The second is how it looks when I publish a PDF for web viewing. Notice the notched left and right upper corners.

I have used the reference page to adjust the Heading1 background bar, which is the selected setting in Frame Above Pfg in the advanced tab of this paragraph design element. It has not solved the problem. I have a ticket with Adobe, but have not yet had success in troubleshooting this issue. If anyone in the community has any ideas, I am very open to suggestions. Thank you in advance.

To repeat/note, this is not happening for my coworkers running FM 2020, nor did it happen for me before the upgrade.

If you think it is a 2022 bug, you can report it here:

Hi @KatherineTDC:

So it looks like you are using a box behind the paragraph and then a rule above to extend the box up a little bit? I would also double check the length of the rule above. Make sure that it is at least as long as the column, if not a little bit longer— because FrameMaker will crop it automatically at the column guides if it's longer—and see if that makes a difference. I'm wondering we are seeing the slightly shorter line above the box?

The other possibility is that the Reference Frame has a stroke applied to its border. Make sure the Pen Pattern setting for the Reference Frame is set to None.

So you create the PDF through the Publish panel? Have you tried seeing if there's any difference if you Print to the Adobe PDF printer instance? (I'd say try the Save As PDF route, but that uses the same settings as the Publish route).

Hi,

OK. First: Do you have the latest update of FM 2022 installed? What is the version in the Help menu, About?

Your issue is strange. I think that I have seen this already. If this was my issue, I ignored it at some point, as noone besides me noticed it.

Some questions:

Do you see this with every zoom level?

You have a Frame above and a paragraph box. I assume that the blue frame is only this paragraph box. What happens, when you switch off the Frame above? And vice versa? Do both, the Frame above and the paragraph box interfere with each other?

Best regards, Winfried

This is my current version: 17.0.1.305

It is an extremely strange issue. When I remove the Frame above setting, the Heading1 box is too small, and the text inside the box bumps up against the top of the blue box. Is there a way to make the height of the heading one box higher and eliminate the frame above setting altogether?

It appears at every zoom level.
