FM 9 .pdf creation errors using polish fonts.

I have a problem with FM9 which cannot create a

correct .pdf when a polish font is used. When a book is created and has to be saved as a .pdf it is missing some text in the .pdf that is in the book. Furthermore some of the font are not displayed correctly in the .pdf file bookmarks (It shows some of the letters corretly and the put a ' ³ ' next to some letters and in the middle of a word).

I have already tried to use the 'print as .pdf' function and Distiller and PDFCreator both generates the same wrong result.

Any suggestions are most welcome...

    Morten,

FrameMaker 9 is Unicode-enabled and if used with correct, modern up-to-date Unicode-encoded fonts has no problems with Polish. It seems to me, the problem is the font you are using. What is its name and format? PostScript Type 1 fonts (*.pfb/*.pfm) are not Unicode-enabled.

Please make a test using Arial or Times New Roman, use a Polish keyboard to enter some of the nice characters (or copy & paste them from here: Ďď Ēē Ęę Łł Źź) and see that the PDF & bookmark generation works.

Because you don't provide system information, your problem is hard to trouble shoot.

First off, though, if you are running Windows XP, have you installed the mandatory Microsoft Hotfix for all PostScript printers? It fixes many problems, but in particular the missing text issue...

    Hi,

I believe its becaouse of teh font you have used originally in those specific module that are having error:

you can try updating to a add-on for PDF output generation that would be available in the Disk of Framemaker you would have If its a Part of suite it would be in

    C:\Documents and Settings\ankupand\Desktop\setup\TCS2\Release\Disk1\Adobe FrameMaker\Adobe FrameMaker Dependency\payloads\AdobePDFL9-mul

to path would be a little modified for you depeding on the location and the Product being a Point Product or Suite.....

    Hopefully it would help.

    Thanks,

    Anjaneai

    Hi Michael

Once again you came up with the right soloution. Thank you very much!

The font used was delivered by a third party and was not a unicode font - thus the problem.

I replaced the font with a unicode font, and the problem was solved.

    Again - thank you!
