Fm2020 and FM2022 - Conditionalized Columns Empty when Hidden and Published as HTML5

Hi everyone,

I have tables with conditions being applied to columns. In certain documents, I'd like to hide a specific column, so I hide the corresponding condition (e.g., Internal). Only one condition is applied to this column.

In PDF, the column is hidden. But when I publish HTML5, the column is shown but empty.  What is more embarassing is that when I inspect the table using the browser's  Inspect tool, the content of the hidden table cells is shown in the HTML Elements view!

As per Adobe, this issue seems to have been fixed in FM2017 Update 3:

  1. In a table containing conditional columns, the column marked to hide from the published output also gets published. (Ref - 3293)

How come it re-emerged?

The issue is so obvious that I wonder if Adobe run QA tests before releasing FrameMaker. This is embarassing. Really disappointed with the quality of the product.

    Hi,

Which FM version do you have? Do you remember that this had worked after FM 2017, update 3?

There are also other bugs which are related to conditionalized hidden columns:

    Yes, very annoying.

    Best regards, Winfried

    Hi Winfried,

    Thanks for your response.

This issue is reproduced in the latest versions of FM2020 (16.0.7.1138)

and FM2022 (17.0.6.798). I am surpised this bug hasn't been fixed up until now. It makes the column conditionalization option unusuable in case of publishing to HTML5.

Just as Adobe hopes that helpful users will answer your questions here in this user-to-user forum, Adobe hopes that really attentive people like you will file these items in the tracker, especially for things that are critical to your workflow.

    https://tracker.adobe.com/#/home

FrameMaker 2020 and earlier bug trackers are not likely scrubbed by engineers for issues that still exist in the current product.

If no current version (Fm 2022) tracker item yet exists, I would be surprised if the bug is addressed any time soon.

    I'd happily vote for that item...What is/are the Fm 2022 (v17) tracker link(s) related to your issue(s)?
