FM8 - F9 functionality

I recently converted my files to FM8 and I noticed that the F9 functionality does not work.  Do I need to set up something to get it to work?

There's also a somewhat longer and more informative thread on this issue in the unstructured FrameMaker forum:

http://forums.adobe.com/thread/458871?tstart=0

The conclusion of that thread is that F9 functionality works "sort of" -- it displays the dialog box but doesn't permit cycling through styles.  Commentors hope that if enough users submit bug requests to fmerror@adobe.com that Adobe will restore what is now remembered as "classic" F9 functionality...

Cheers & hope this helps,

Riley

Riley,

FYI, the other thread is specific to FM9, where the interface is different and the code had to be re-written to provide backwards support (apparently the looping on the single-key entry wasn't added). The FM8 issues though similar, will probably not get fixed, as this no longer is the current product.

Can you please specify which point version of FM8 that you are using. The latest is 8.0p277.

I am using 8.0p266. The option works for my coworker but not for me which is why I'm thinking there must be a setting that I need to designate.

You should update to the latest version. There were issues in FM8 with the shortcut keys. From one of the patch readme files:

Shortcuts:
Operations to change the Paragraph and Character tag in document using Function keys F8,F9  "time out", at an apparently random interval. Also these operations become unusable for Paragraph and Character designer when respective designers are opened.
