FM9 (TCS2) Installation Not On SSD?

I just came across this entry under "Requirements" for a TCS2 installation:

> 6.5GB of available hard-disk           space for installation; additional free space required           during installation (cannot install on flash-based           storage devices)

As I plan to invest in a Thinkpad X301 with a 128 GB SSD, I find this requirement irritating, to say the least.

Does anybody here have hands-on experience with installing FM9 (or the TCS2) on a notebook with an SSD?

Thank you,

Johann

I think that requirement is indicating that a thumb-drive shouldn't be used. AFAIK, SSD drives should be treated the same as convential hard-drives.

    On behalf of Adobe ...

The restriction against "flash-based storage devices" really should state "any portable / removable storage device." The wording of the restriction is exceptionally misleading and unfortunate.

The issue is that Adobe applications cannot be made "portable" by installing them on thumb drives or external magnetic drives that migrate from system to system. A license is per system, not per storage device.

You should experience no problem installing any Adobe applications to SSD devices. A number are used quite successfully within Adobe itself.

    Dov,

thanks a lot for the clarification!

I couldn't believe to be the first person trying to install FM9 on an SSD. Thanks for the reassurance!

    Cheers,

    Johann

    Arnis,

thanks for your response. I had the same thought as you, but don't know for sure...

Anybody out there knows something substantial about this?

    Thanks,

    Johann

This is User 2 User forum. Official statements from Adobe employees is rare. HOWEVER, if you call customer service for pre-sales help they should be able to give you a definite answer. If not, I have had great pre-sales technical support from PCConnection. Their sales people will not know the answer, however they will try their tech support staff and when they do not know, they will call Adobe for a definite answer.
