Frame 12 graphics: holding down Shift used to keep the line straight, now what?

It used to be when drawing a line in Framemaker that holding down the Shift key while dragging the line would keep the line straight. This no longer works in Frame 12. What is the correct way to get a straight line?

Thanks in advance.

Correct answer Arnis Gubins

1) using no shift.

Click line tool in drawing tools, cursor turns into "+" (without quotes)

Left click on body page, no handle appears, but as one moves some distance away, scraggled line appears from first click. Second click and line appears with black handles.

3) Using shift after start

Click line tool in drawing tools, cursor turns into "+" (without quotes)

Left click on body page, holding down clicker, then hold down shift, line completely disappears.

2) Using shift before start. Works perfectly!

Thanks

We seem to be talking about different things. I thought you were concerened about editing the line after it was drawn.

For creating a new vertical/horizontal line, select the line tool (cursor becomes +), and then hold down the shift key. Now click where you want to start (while still holding the shift key) and then drag the line to where you want it to end (i.e. your last approach). At this point it will still be the selection and show the handles at both ends.

For editing and existing line, ctrl+click on the line. The handles will appear. Hold down the shift key and then click on th handle that you want to edit. You can drag it either horizontally or vertically along the imaginary axis going through the selected end-point while using the shift-key modifier.

Works for me. Which version of FM12 (latest is 12.0.2).? Do you have any other applications running that may be affecting the shift-key behaviour?

Since I just installed Frame, I would suppose that I have the latest, but I have 12.0.0.329 so I guess that I'll run an upgrade. I have nothing running that I didn't have running when I was running Frame 8.

Holding down the shift key is not mentioned in the manual, but the way to get a straight line (from the manual) is to click at one end, then the other. The problem arises when the line is not quite the right length...

But for me whether I edit an existing line or make a new one, holding down the shift key makes the line disappear.

I'll report back when I've run the upgrade.

Do you hold down the shift key before you start drawing?

When editing, the line may either flicker or dropout temporarily, but you should still see the handles (the black squares at each end). When you get the line (handle) to the desired location, and release the mouse button, the line should be visible.
