Frame 9 DITA map file won't open

Hi, I have Frame 9 (fully patched) running on Win XP (SP3) on an AMD Athlon 64 1.8GHz machine with 2 GB RAM and with 70GB of disk space.

My problem is with creating new maps and opening existing ones. For example I have just waited over half an hour (then gave up) for a 33KB map file to load. There are no CPU or Page File issues showing on the PC.

I wasn't sure if it was a network issue, but the same file loads in under 30 seconds with the free version of Syntext Serna.

Creating map files is also an incredibly slow process.

I don't seem to have any problems with creating topics etc, so I'm not sure what could be causing the map issue, unless its a parsing problem.

Anyone else had the same problem?

Hi Travis...

A very large map may take a minute or two to load, but I've never heard of what you're seeing. I'd assume that there's some structure in there that FM9 doesn't like.

I've got a 53KB map that opens in 5 seconds.

If you'd like to send me your file, I'd be happy to take a look to see if I see any problems. Upload a ZIP to .. http://leximation.com/inbox

What part of the map creation process is slow? You may want to take a look at using DITA-FMx, which provides a number of authoring and publishing enhancements over those in default FM9. In particular, there's one command that will create a map and stub topic files from a simple FM document.
