Frame 9 Interface

I find the Frame 9 interface difficult and time-consuming. Is there any way to make it more like Frame 8?  Is it possible to not use the docking/tab features so there is a single file header? Is it possible to allow chapter files to be "on top" of the book file or variable task bar? How can I ensure that variables, conditional text and cross references start as small task windows in the middle of the Frame window.? Any suggestions are most appreciated; the preferences are limited in scope.

    Annie,

With FM9, you have the option to configure (and save) your own workspaces over and above the default ones that Adobe supply. You might want to sit through the FM9 Interface session (1:20 hrs) by RJ Jacquez, Adobe's senior evangelist for TechComm Products.

    It's available here: https://admin.adobe.acrobat.com/_a295153/p17912987/

You can safely ignore the first 20 minutes of that video, and the rest of it doesn't tell you much for your purposes. I've tried configuring the Frame 9 interface, and unless there is a secret setting in the maker.ini file that stops everything opening up into multi-page mode, I'm going back to 8. Acrobat gives you the choice of single page - continuous, why can't frame? I also tried 9 because I thought it might stop the program falling over so often, but it doesn't. I have a feeling that either Windoze doesn't supply enough resources, or that Frame doesn't hand the memory back properly after a lot of cutting amd pasting.

Opening documents as tabs doen't help when you're cutting and pasting a lot.

Either way, not a cost-effective upgrade at all.
