Framemaker 10 won't print PDF

All of a sudden, Frame will not print a PDF. It acts like it's doing something, but nothing happens. We've reinstalled Framemaker, and ran a fix on Adobe, but still nothing. I have Acrobat 9 and a Windows 7 operating system.I can print to a PDF in other programs, but not Framemaker. Help!

You can always try unchecking 'Print to File:' and instead saving it when prompted.

I’m not sure what you mean by unchecking Print to File? I use that option as a workaround to print it to file and then open it in Distiller.

I used to simply change the printer to Adobe PDF, and then I would get a message prompting me where I want to create the file, and then it would create the PDF.

Now I don’t get the prompt or any error message—just sends something off into cyberspace without creating the PDF.

Pam,

Are you actually printing (File > Print) to the AdobePDF printer instance or are you using the SaveAsPDF route? Do you know where your PDF port is supposed to output to?

Is the Adobe PDF printer instance set as the default in FM?

Can you print to file and then use Distiller?

Have you had any updates/patches installed just before this happened?

Have you used the Help > Repair  Acrobat Installation option in Acrobat?

The more details you can supply (especially about before vs now), the less guessing that has to take place as to what may have gone awry.

I do File/Print. No the printer is not set as the default.

I have gone from a 64 bit MS Office back to a 32 bit version, but this happened while I was still at 64-bits. I can use the print to file and then use Distiller as a work around. I have used the repair for Acrobat. I’ll find out about the PDF port. Does this info help?

Thanks for your reply.

Pam,

It's possible that your PDF Port has been re-assigned to a different location and this is where your files are ending up. Look at the Printer properties to see where the files might be placed:

You can re-assign the location by adding a new PDF port. See:
