Framemaker 12/2015 won't launch after 'successful' (re) installation

I just installed Framemaker 2015 Trial, after a bios upgrade that rendered Framemaker 2012 unusable (it won't start and wouldn't after I tried several times to reinstall it) on my new Dell laptop. After failing several times, I uninstalled every Adobe product on the computer except Flash and Air and rebooted (also several times), and tried again - still won't start, for both fm 12 and 2015. Is there an installation procedure beyond just running Setup that I need to know about? If so, where can I get it? I'm a 15+ year user of Framemaker (7 or 8 versions, bought and paid for) and do nearly all my work on it, but this is getting very frustrating.
