We upgraded to Framemaker 12, now the view element boundaries (as tags) doesn't work. Is there a bug or am I lost?

I am replying to myself to explain all that happened.

We have a template to use for producing content. Within this template will be chunks of content with repeated formating. We have this repeated formatting saved in a file to copy and paste into a document. Typically we would start a new document by copy and pasting the repeated formatting into a new file and wrap that in a Document element tag. Before wrapping we would see the tags. This time we did not. This is when the initial question was posted. Did not make a difference which machine we would use we got the same result.

This morning I was using the information posted by Eager Beager. During trials and errors I inserted a document element into the new document and then pasted the repeated formatting. The element tags displayed. I can now turn them on and off without issue, on all machines. The item that makes this strange now is that I cannot get the original circumstances to repeat. Everything works. No problems. FM....freaking magic!

Thank you Eager Beager. Your reply caused me to continue to troubleshoot and somehow trigger the files into functioning.

Works fine for me. What do you see in the Structure View pod? Unless Elements have been assigned, there won't be any tags.

This is strange. The file in our template structure isn't working. I opened an existing file and it isn't working. I opened an older existing file and all is well. I stripped the content of the functioning file and replaced the file in the template.

Tried to import formats (all) to bring in the elements (which already existed) to no avail. So, it seems I have to copy and paste into a working file.
