FrameMaker 2019 Crashes when Preferences Selected

I have FrameMaker 2019 running on Windows 7.  I installed FrameMaker successfully.  I want to change some of the Preferences and as soon as I select Preferences, FrameMaker crashes.  Two other writers in my group have exactly the same problem. I have tried re-installing FrameMaker and checked for updates.  Any idea what to try next?

Hi All,

Thank you for your inputs and responses.  I already was at the latest version.  That was the first think I tried to resolve the problem.  I emailed Adobe Tech Support and got a very fast response from them.  Here is their solution and it worked:

Please follow the below steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Go To Control Panel >  Program and Features.
  2. Uninstall FrameMaker.
  3. Uninstall all .net Framework installed on your machine.
  4. Restart the machine.
  5. Download and install the latest .net framework from the following
         link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=55167
  6. Restart the machine.
  7. Install FrameMaker.
  8. Check the issue again.

I tried to open the Preferences and it worked.

Thanks,

Earl

32 or 64 bit version of FM2019? I vaguely recall an issue with Win7 and FM2019, but could be wrong (or it was fixed already)

It is 64-bit version of FM2019.

You could try renaming the user-profile created prefs folder in C:\Users\user_name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\FrameMaker\version\

but if that still doesn't work, I'd shoot the guys at FM an e-mail - tcssup@adobe.com
