FrameMaker 2022 (17.0.4.628) Responsive HTML5 Book Groups

Hello everybody,

we work with large manuals, so we structure the Chapters in the Book file with groups and/or folders. We also publish these manuals as Responsive HTML5.

With FrameMaker 2019, all Book groups and folders were converted into corresponding folders. This created a structure with subfolders in the output.

With FrameMaker 2022, these subfolders do not longer exist. All HTML files are still located in folders with the same name as the files themselves. However, these folders are now located directly under the main folder, meaning no parent folders are created for the groups. Is this a bug or a feature?

Thanks for your help

    Good Morning Winfried,

many thanks for your detailed answer. I have to clarify all points with my customer, as I'm not entirely sure what his needs are. Maybe the folder structure in the output is important for him, maybe also the subgroups in the book, I'm not sure. Afterwards we will decide whether it makes sense for us to report these issues to Adobe or it's easier to find a workaround by ourselves.

And of course I told my colleage to update her FrameMaker version to 17.0.6. Many thanks for your hint.

Last question: should I mark your suggestions as "Right answer"?

Many thanks and best regards, Andreas

    Hi Andreas,

You can mark this answer as correct.

However, then I would start a new thread why the chapter heading is truncated. This is something which should be corrected. Better to describe a single problems in a single thread. And not many problems in one common thread.

I doubt that the subfolders in the output are important. You always have to use the entire folder and not parts of

    it.

    Best regards, Winfried

    Hi,

What I understand is that you want subfolders named as the book groups or book folders in the book folder in your file manager.

Mosts important in my view: Does your output look different than with FM 2019? Is this OK?

I tested this with folders and groups. What I noticed for both, groups and folders:

o In my file manager in the book folder no subfolders for book groups or book folders.

o In the TOC there was a topic named with the heading1 text of the subfolder file, and below again the same topic with the heading1 text. I would not want to have the same topic name twice, but possibly others think differently.

When I did not have a heading1, but only a heading2 (which was not set to start a new topic) in the subfolder FM file, then the item in the TOC was named as the FrameMaker file.

    Best regards, Winfried

    Hello Wilfried,

Many thanks for your quick response. The HTML output is essentially the same for FM 2019 and FM 2022. However, the table of contents is completely wrong – the correct hierarchy is gone there (Chapter 4 comes after Section 3.3 below Chapter 3), the groups in my book are obviously not being taken into account. I think, I'll create a simple sample project and test the behaviour myself. Then I'll send a few screenshots from FrameMaker and the file explorer, what exactly my problems are. Hopefully, I'll be able to do that later today.

Thanks again and best regards, Andreas
