FrameMaker 9 unstructured, TOC will not generate when I update the book

Assuming the TOC in exact the same book worked before:

* The Update Book dialog has a checkbox whether generated file should be updated

* In addition to that there are two lists in the dialog which allow you to exclude certain generated files from updating.

If someone else possibly did something to your book: Is the TOC really a TOC from FrameMaker’s POV or is it only named like a TOC? Generatable files have a different document icon in the book and you can right-click a "real" TOC and find a menu command which allows you to change the TOC settings.

It's good that you write tight, but a few more details would help the rest of us....

Like:

Was this TOC working before, or is it new? Was the book and files created in 9, or rolled forward from an older version?

What's your environment: OS, FM patch level, networked files, etc.

Without more info, I'd suggest:

• Rebooting
• Saving the book file as MIF to clean up any corruption
• Creating a new book, copying a few content files into it and generating a TOC in that book.
