Question

FrameMaker and 1000D - is this facility still usable?

I have some clients asking about FrameMaker and S1000D. I am no expert on structured FrameMaker and have done some research into what can be done using FrameMaker as a S1000D editor.

I do worry that all information regarding this subject looks very dated. FrameMaker version 10 and not a lot of consultants...

Does anybody here have up-to-date knowledge about using FrameMaker as a S1000 editor?

    Hi Bjorn,

Mekon used to have a FrameMaker plug-in for S1000D.

Mekon is now part of contiem.

Here is a page about their FrameMaker plug-ins:

    https://aerospace-defence.com/index.php/technical-information/solutions/adobe-plugins/

And here is page about the configuration of Adobe Experience Manager AEM:

    https://mekon.com/adobe-partner/

    Does this help?

    Best regards, Winfried

Thanks for your quick answer, @Winfried Reng ! These are "different times" and I struggle figuring out to what extent users are able to keep the entire publishing process on local servers.  Besides the FrameMaker stuff. 🙂

    Hi,

Yes, it's feasible but not with Framemaker's own S1000D support. I would strongly recommend using Mekon's S1000D plugin (which even Adobe recommends on the Help menu).

And make sure that the MOI is registered at NATO NSPA, either by you or by your customer.
