Question

FrameMaker file could not be found

Hello,

I have a huge book of over half a thousand pages created in FrameMaker 7.2. Recently we upgraded to FrameMaker 12. I updated the book and wanted to create responsive HTML5 help. But I get an error message that says: "FrameMaker book files could not be found."

I was able to create HTML5 output of other smaller books. But not from this one. Also I can create html5 output of each chapter individually, but not of entire book. Please help who knows what I can do to have a necessary output.

Thanks!

Thank you for your advice. My book was created in the very early versions of FrameMaker and the chapters of the book did not have the extensions. So once I saved each individual chapter as FrameMaker files and then added those files to the book again, FrameMaker began seeing them and I published to HTML5 successfully.

Sounds like something got messed up in this book’s conversion. I’d create a new fresh FM 12 book and bring in all the parts of it fresh.

Or the most popular ways to get this problem - one or more component files were renamed by means other than using the Book menu's rename feature, or the file system relationship between book and component files was changed (directory in path renamed, directory level added or deleted).
