FrameMaker: How to change color of footnote number (Insert>Footnote)

Is there a way to change the color of the number itself every time I insert a new footnote (Insert>Footnote) in FrameMaker?

Participating Frequently

Create a character format with the formatting that you require. Select the character format, then insert the footnote.

For an existing footnote, select the footnote number (which also selects the entire footnote), and apply the character format.

Tested in FM 12.
