FrameMaker 16.0.4.1062

Acrobat Pro DC 2022.002.20191

For accessibility, I've added alternate text to anchored frames that contain images that we import by reference.

Our organization's documentation also makes extensive use of icon images for notes, warnings, examples, etc. We define those icon images in our Reference Pages.

When I use the File > Publish > PDF option, the process automatically adds "Imported into FrameMaker" as alternate text for all of the icon images from our Reference Pages. The Acrobat PDF screen reader correctly reads the alternate text that we've added to anchored frames, but it also reads "Imported into FrameMaker" every time it encounters one of those icon images.

I have the following PDF Outputs settings configured in the Publish dialog:

General tab:

  • Preset Name: Standard
  • Options:
    • Selected the "Create Tagged PDF" check box.
    • Selected the "Convert text and graphic colors to RGB (excluding images)" check box.
    • Cleared the "Use Acrobat Distiller for PDF generation (Recommended with pdfmark)" check box.

Style Mapping tab:

  • Image Settings:
    • Cleared the "Import Reference Page Images" check box.

Is there a proper way to publish PDFs that retains FrameMaker's alternate text for anchored frames but does not generate alternate text for Reference Pages images?

Hey @BroadcasterTwang ,
On your query on alt text.
Could you send me(email if messaged privately)  a Sample test file and its pdf to understand the issue with more clarity?
