Framemaker saves to temporary file

I am using the latest version of FM on Windows 10. When I try to save a file it saves to a temporary file. I have turned OFF Auto save and turned OFF my virus protection (Zaspersky).

The original file WAS a Word document imported into FM if that makes a difference.

Try creating a D:\projects\ folder and copy the FM content there to test with.

Are you getting something with a whole bunch of capital letters after the base Fm name?

If so, I recommend creating a new preferences file for Fm.

Just the temporary extension with three letters or numbers.

Yep, try resetting the prefs file. It takes 2 minutes, and if you rename your current prefs folder, you can always revert easily to save existing workspaces or other custom settings in your current environment.

I can't imagine what the source would have anything to do with it - once it's sucked into the FM doc, it ceases to have any links with wherever it came from; unless you linked it by mistake.

That D:\ drive doesn't look like it's actually on your local machine - it's a Dropbox folder.

The D:/ drive is a physical drive in the PC but understand that it could be a cloud location.

That's not local - that's a cloud spot - test it out by using a "real" folder off your c:\ drive

Altho I have worked for a month on another project with no issues. I think it is something to do with the Word import.

Where's the location of the saved file? Local or on a network or cloud location? Did this just start happening or it's always been like this?

Local hard drive under Dropbox folder. It just started happening.
