FrameMaker11(structured) Very Unstable

I have just recently acquired FM11 to continue building structured documents and books. We use an externally generated DTD and I have set up the application files accordingly. I have added the plug-in 11.0.2 update, and when calling files or trying to regenerate files in the book compiler, it crashes repeatedly. I need to have this tool working now, and it's frustrating to see this happening. What is going on and how do I fix it?

What version of Windows?

32- or 64-bit mode?

We also have CS6 Professional loaded up, and I use OxygenXML, Dreamweaver, AI, and XMLSpy. Could these have anything to do with it?

Going to need more info to help you; haven’t heard many reports of structured FM11 being unstable

Our whole department is experiencing the same thing, and I did a search on the Internet to find out that other folk are asking the same thing. That's why I'm now asking someone in Adobe as to what is going on. We didn't have this trouble before with FrameMaker10. The tool is very irratic when loading more than one file, and at other times it doesn't call a file into it at all. We have to do a LOT of reset locks.

It almost seems like its trying to open and conflict with another tool. We had FrameMaker 10 before, but I removed it, and also all the residual files located in the main computer hard drive. (We have to work into and out of an external hard drive). At first, I thought that might be the problem, but I tried working on files directly in the computer hard drive itself, and it STILL crashed repeadly.

We do NOT use DITA nor S1000D. We must match to our customer's defined DTDs (Defense based).

Is that enough to get started? Thanks for your help.

First – you do realize that posting to the forums is not the same as “asking someone at Adobe as to what is going on.”? – this is a user-to-user forum; if you want Adobe’s attention, contact Adobe Support.

Second – are you running FM with full admin rights? Do you have any sort of CMS or source control at play here? Have you tried playing with another DTD to see if it’s the problem?
