How compatible is Frammaker 12 with Arbortext using Widmill 9.1 as a content manager? Windmil does not produce a DTD file.

If you've been given Arbortext content to translate, you have an XML document. FrameMaker (11 & 12 for sure) will work with XML content, as long as it's a doctype that FrameMaker has included - DocBook or DITA or S1000d. If they have a custom DTD, you will need to get it from them and work with the EDD to make it compatible.

There is no formatting work, only translation of text. Arbortext is XML only. Style and formatting are done automatically by stylesheets applied at publishing time and not inside the file itself, so don't bill for or do any formatting, because you won't get paid for that.

You don't need Windchill to work with Arbortext files.

What do you mean by "compatible" in this instance? Are you referring to unstructured or structured (XML,DITA) content? Arobortext is a competing product for structured content.

Well, I work in translations, and I was sent the files in xml (structured), and i trying to finish the "typeseting" (Graphics and design) in Framemaker, becasue i don't have arbortexr and the trial version of it doesn't help me because of the lack of installing windmill 9.1

Do you mean the "Windchill" product from PTC as the CMS?

If you're just finishing up a typesetting job, then the CMS isn't going to help that much (it's just a content repository after all).

Are the XML files DITA content or some other custom schema? Do you already have an EDD in FM for your specific structured application?
