Generating a PDF Bookmark for the Table of Contents (DITA 1.3)

I am finding that my PDF output does not include a bookmark for the table of contents generated from a DITA map.

If you think this is a good idea, you can vote for it at the Adobe Tracker site (tracker.adobe.com).

I have submitted a bug to Adobe:

Hi @Wanda Jane ,

Hope you are doing good.

Regarding your Bookmark related query, I think there is a way in FM to enable Bookmark for TOC.

Here are the steps:

  1. Export TOCTpl.fm from STS File (Go to File > Publish > Right Click on PDF > Edit Settings > Navigate to DITA Template Tab > Scroll down and click button on the right to TOCTpl.fm > Click Export... > Specify the Path and Name of the file)
  2. Open TOCTpl.fm
  3. Go to View > Document > PDF Setup... > Bookmarks Section.
  4. Add title-toc Paragraph Style to Include Paragraphs List.
  5. Click on Set button
  6. Save TOCTpl.fm
  7. Import TOCTpl.fm into STS File (Go to File > Publish > Edit Settings > Right Click on PDF > Navigate to DITA Template Tab > Scroll down and click button on the right to TOCTpl.fm > Click Import... > Specify the Path and Name of the file)
  8. Click Save and Close button
  9. Now, Bookmark will contain one additional entry Contents that will point to TOC in newly published PDFs.

Request you to share your feedback on the same.

Thanks,

Kunal Puri

Hi @Kunal Puri ...

I m not getting bookmarks in Adobe pdf file..

I set the bookmark hierarchy level in both two ways in frame maker

Format-> document->pdf set up

File>print > generate ...>pdf setup..

After all this set up I m not getting bookmarks in pdf..

When I checked in the output file(properties>pageonly) is there in the created file..

Bookmarks and hyperlinks section not selected in pdf file.. to get this option in pdf what should I do in frame maker settings?

Definitely a good idea, though for what it's worth I don't get a ToC bookmark in .pdf generated from other DITA tools either.
