Global Numbering Change

I am working from a template not created by me and I am wondering if there is a way to make global changes to the way the numbering is... specifically changine dots to dashes. Currently my Head 1's and Head 2's are

1.1

1.2

2.1.1

3.2.1 etc.

I am needing to change them all to dashes...

1-1

1-2

2-1-1

3-2-1 etc.

Is there a way to do this for the entire book? If not how about the individual chapters? Thanks

I am assuming that these were done with Autonumbers in the Paragraph Formats. Click in one of the Head 1 paragraphs, open the Paragraph Designer (Format > Paragraphs > Paragraph Designer), and click the Numbering button. You should see something in there where you can change periods to dashes. Make the change and click Update All. Do the same for your other heading paragraphs.

Save the document and leave it open and open the book. Select the files in the book and choose File > Import > Formats to import the Paragraph Formats from the updated document to the rest of them.
