Question

Global update on paragraph tag overrides?

I need to convert a large doc from Word to FM11. I have imported it and am ready to start cleaning it up, but it needs a lot of retagging because all of the styles/tags aren't the same. Global update isn't working, and I think it's because all the tags are identified as overrides [they have an *]. Is there a way out of retagging these manually?

Thanks for any help!

You could also consider using Silicon Prairie's Paragraph/Character Tools. These will let you map Word's override styles and differently named styles to use specific ones from a template. See: Silicon Prairie - FrameMaker Products

Quite quick and painless. Not expensive either...

There's also Cudpsan's HuntOverrides utility that creates a hypertext list of paragraph overrides that can be used to work through a document. See: Cud Project: CudSpan Plug-ins Page (look under the FM10 plugins).

    The one-at-a-time way is to:

    • pick a tag name to work on
    • open Paragraph Designer for that tag
    • verify that all the settings are as desired
    • click [ Update All ]
      [ Remove Overrides ]
