Question

Has anyone noticed FM Doc File information not being imported when Printing to .PDF?

I just upgraded FrameMaker 2019 64-bit to 15.0.1.430 (from Nov 1, 2018), but I still get inconsistent performance when printing a FM doc file to .pdf - occasionally, the FM Doc File Info (Author, Title, Subject, Keywords, Copyright, etc.) doesn't get imported into the generated .pdf file, and I have to manually enter the FM Doc File information under the .pdf file's File > Properties > Document Properties > Description tab. Alternately, if I Save As.pdf instead of Printing the FM Doc file to .pdf, the FM Doc File Info imports fine. Has anyone else noticed this? Thanks in advance.

What do you mean by "printing to PDF"? Do you mean you use File > Print, then select the Adobe PDF printer instance?

Save as PDF is printing, also, it all is. So, why not use Save as?

Also, in 2019, the Publish pod is preferred, or so I am told. I don't use it yet, because I really don't know where I want to save the settings file. Twould have been easier if they just added that stuff in the maker.ini file.

@sean - Print to Adobe PDF isn't the same as Save as PDF, nor is it the same as Publish to PDF (uses a completely new engine for that one)

Doesn't Save as PDF just output through Distiller to the Adobe PDF printer?

In response to linsims' inquiry, Yes - the "Add document information" checkbox is enabled in the FM doc file's Adobe PDF Document Properties dialog box.

Did you check to see if "Add document information" was selected in the Adobe PDF Settings tab for the Adobe Printer?
