Hello. When printing manuals to PDF, though ok on FM, the PDF has all graphics moved and logos gone.

Hello.

I make user manuals with FrameMaker, and I am working on a manual, when the PDF is printed, all graphics are moved. There is also a logo that should be on every page and it's just gone, also most text from the cover is out of place.

I had been working on other files and this is the only one with this problem, but I don't know how to fix it.

Thank you.

    Hi @Tatiana37232569dhc5:

This is odd, but I see it came up once before. I don't see that there was a clear resolution other than using Print to PDF instead of the normally preferred Save as PDF.

Barb, I printed to PDF instead and the problem is gone. 😄

    Thank you!

Might it be that your graphics are SVG? And made from Adobe Illustrator?

I encountered an SVG issue several times:

When there was text with a space, then the text formatting was changed. As far as I remember, the text was not moved.

However, in earlier releases of FrameMaker 2022 there was a bug which moved text and other objects in SVG files around. This was fixed in update 2 or 3.

Tatiana, can you check the exact version number? You find it in the Help menu in About.

I still use EPS for drawings which might cause problems in SVG. I cannot check all of my drawings, if each single line is in its place.

Looks like there is a color management issue as well.

The settings for Save-as-PDF might need a look, and using the Publish path may give you more control (such as ensuring that CMYK vs. RGB is under control).
Where are the "every page" graphics located? (Body or Master page)
What file format are they? (e.g. SVG, EPS, PNG, JPG)

They are in the reference page, but the graphics that are on the Body pages where also displaced.

    Hi,

And more questions: Had this worked before and this issue occured now?

Or is this a new issue?

Do you have other files, where this works?

I suspect that this has something to do with the runaround properties of your graphics. When runaround is set, then text on top of this graphics object will be moved.

Select your graphics objects (the one which is still in place and not the one which was moved) and in the Graphics menu click Runaround Properties.

Here is the description in the online help:

Let's get some basics - what version of FM? All patched up? How are you creating the PDFs (there are a couple of ways)?
oh, and ps - don't attach images to your posts - use the "Insert Photos" icon in the web interface to stick them in the body of your posts (less work for casual viewers to see what's going on).

    It's FrameMaker 2022.

I am using File - Save as PDF. I do the same for all my other manuals and this is the only one that has that issue.
