How do I fix Warning: Distiller's scratch volume is nearly full? I'm using FrameMaker 11 on a Windows 7 Professional os. I was running a script to create a document abstract. The script appears to be hung right now.

Thanks and regards

Is this different from the Distiller Preference item:

  • Notify when the Windows TEMP folder is nearly full

You can turn off that notification, but the problem is still there. If you are running a monolithic (single partition) C: drive, is it getting full? If you are running a partitioned system, is the drive pointed to by system variable TEMP getting full?

I have 14.7 GB free of 465 on my C drive.

Although that might seem like a lot (and it is from a historical perspective), it's only 3%, which is well below the threshold where operating systems and some applications get worried and starting tossing dialogs (because if you flat run out, you can irrecoverably trash the file system).

You might delete old big objects in the TEMP and TMP paths, delete old downloads, delete Windows update files for patches you never expect to roll back, empty the recycle bin and/or look for unusually large unused objects generally. Defrag might help, but it may refuse to run until you get to at least 15% free space.
