How do I keep the formatting when converting a Word document into FrameMaker 11?

Arnis, your advice giot me halfway there. Now, after the doc has been converted, every time I select text, it hi-lights everything in the document.

If you note, the banner text says that the text was imported by COPY. You imported by REFERENCE.
