How to copy a Row/column from excel to FrameMaker 2020

Hi,

 

I have recently edited the "ClipboardFormatsPriorities" and brought TEXT first. Still Paste Special Ctrl+Shift+V is not working.

Also can someone suggets how to copy a table from excel to FrameMaker 2020.

    Content from PDF and Excel wont behave in the same manner when being copy pasted.

    If I understand you correctly...

    When you copy paste from Excel, the text shows up as tab delimited text in FrameMaker (...normalt text), right?

    You can select that text and go to Table->Convert to Table and have the text turned into a table again.

    If you are using the road I have shown with the maker.ini having TEXT last in the line, you should be able to copy tables from Excel into FrameMaker and have them work as tables. But not necessesarily tables from PDF files, because there is no way of telling how that data has been made.

    I can do it merely by copy paste.

    1. Copy the table in Excel
    2. Go to FrameMaker 2020
    3. Insert text cursor
    4. Paste (Ctrl+v)

    These are the settings in my maker.ini file regarding clibboard

    Hi Studiosm,

    If i keep the default settings, it was hard for me copy and paste the content from PDF and other source. 

     

    Now after changing the ClipboardFormatsPriorities=TEXT, ... everything is pasted as normal text when i copy from Excel. Hope you understands, i am looking for something what we used in FM10 called Paste Special.

        Hi,

         

        Please do not continue such an old thread. Instead a new one.

         

        The maker.ini to adjust is here:

        C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\FrameMaker\16

        If you cannot find the AppData folder, then you must show hidden files or system files, I do not remember which one.

        You have to change this line:

        ClipboardFormatsPriorities=...

        If you cannot find it, copy this line from the maker.ini file here and paste it in the [Preferences] section:

        C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe FrameMaker 2020

        Hi Matt,

         

        This worked but now my problem is i couldn't copy/paste information from Excel tables. Even those are pasted as normal Text, but not as a Table.
