Greetings all:

I'm very new to using FrameMaker, and I seem to be struggling with deleting unwanted pages.  I was hoping someone could help me with this problem.

Thanks!

Hi Irene; welcome to the club!

    • Assuming your file is stand-alone, you probably have the pagination set to double-sided and "make page count odd"... so a trailing left page would always be generated.
    • If your file(s) are in a book, the pagination of Chapter 1 is actually controlled by how Chapter 2 is set to open, and so on through the book. If Chapter 2 is set to start on a right  hand page, Chapter 1 will generate a blank page at the end of the file, if it's required to make Chapter 2's opening page  happen correctly. This ripples all through the book. Note that pagination in a book is controlled by the book file -- right click one or more component files to see the pagination properties.

In either case, you can temporarily delete the extra pages by using Special > Delete Page, but it'll pop back up when the file is saved / reopened unless you track down which pagination property is causing it and change that setting.

In a document, you can select Special >Delete pages, and then specify the pages to delete.

Or in a book file, right-click each document and select Pagination. In the dialog, select Delete Empty Pages; OR select either Make Page Count Even or Odd. In the latter case, when you save or print the file, FrameMaker typically deletes the excess blank pages, leaving one if it is needed to make the page count even (if that is your choice); I have encountered cases in which the excess pages are not always deleted, in which case I resort to the first procedure.
