How to fix Frame problems with fonts

When I try to "Save as book" to PDF, I get a font error that prevents the file opening for printing.

When I view the file, I get:

The "Myriad Pro Light" Font is not available.

"MyriadPro-Regular" will be used in this session.

The print error does not specify which font, but I assume it is the one mentioned in the first line above.

The font is in the Windows font directory, but FM is not seeing it.  How do I fix this?

Unstructered FM12, Win8.1, HP printers (no choice about that)

    Hi,

Has anybody used, View > Pods > Fonts to find missing fonts and replace them? This should update your character and paragraph tags, correct?

Going forward, be careful about which fonts you include in the styles you define.

Secondly, when you installed FrameMaker, didn't Acrobat Distiller and printer install by default? I am unsure, but you might want to remove and reinstall FrameMaker, making sure to select all components of Acrobat and all fonts.

    Does that help?

    Hi, Sean,

Great minds think alike, as they say.  I did come across View > Pods > Fonts and I am seriously considering replacing all instances of the offending font, but I have to wait to find out

how the powers-that-be think about this idea.  I received this doc over the fence from the company that acquired my original company, so I have no knowledge of how the doc was put

together, other than that it was created in FM11.

When I installed FM12 two days ago, I was not offered any Adobe or font options to choose nor was anything installed by default that I am aware of.  We are considering buying the latest Acrobat app, but at the moment things are very much in flux, so I cannot do this right away.

...and, of course, the deadline for the doc was a few yesterdays ago...

    Thanks,

    Al

If you installed standalone FM, then you would have got a “headless” version of Acrobat installed too. That would have created the AdobePDF printer instance in your list of printers. If you don’t have it, I suspect you’ve got a bad install – try running as an admin and repairing it.

You should have the AdobPDF printer instance as your default for the FM session (use the Sundorne SetPrint utility to set this for automatic behaviour, so you don't have to worry about the HP system default printers - see: Sundorne Communications - SetPrint )

Is the Error message coming from viewing the PDF (i.e. Acrobat or Reader) or FM? If it's from the PDF, then the joboptions file may not be embedding the font.

Use the Windows character map utility to verify if you actually have the Myriad Pro Light installed and available to all applications.

Windows map shows me the font is present.  Doesn't say anything about availability.  I cannot view a PDF since I cannot create one.

Errors message are from Frame.  The SetPrint site instructions were a bit ambiguous, so were not a help.  I have SetPrint.dll file installed, but problem still exists.

How do I set up the AdobePDF printer instance?  I need clear instructions about what belongs in the SetPrint.ini that the SetPrint site talks about.

Is it Adobe PDF=(printer name) ?  SetPrint site instructions are vague.
