How to get FM10 patch to repair licensing to install in Windows 8.1

I recently purchased a new computer with Windows 8.1. When I installed my FrameMaker 10 application on it, I anticipated it would display the "license has expired" error message, so I downloaded the patch. Unfortunately, the patch isn't updating FrameMaker as it did on my Windows 7 computer. What should I do to make it work in Windows 8.1? Thanks.

Never mind.... my brain is a bit fried from working with Windows 8 for the first time (plus three hours on the phone until the wee hours getting the run-around and never all answers from Microsoft help on another issue). Thanks!
