Hello,

I have created a tag for a document, and I would like this tag could be shown on all documents (in paragraph catalog of all the documents). How to do it ?

Hi @pierret18811376:

I want to add that a template in FrameMaker is simply a FrameMaker document without content. Go ahead and create the first chapter of your book in its entirety. Once it's done and perfect, you can save it, and then save it again as your template and remove the chapter 1 content. Base future documents on that template. Then it will have all the styles required.

Note: paragraph styles, paragraph tags and paragraph formats are synonyms in FrameMaker and are used interchangeably.

In this screenshot I have created a tag for a document that you can see at the green arrow (in paragraph catalog) :

I would like that in all paragraph catalogue of the documents I will create, I will find this tag.

You advise me to put this tag in a template. How to do it ?

Do you have a template? It would contain all/most of the settings used to make documents in your book.

If you don't know how to make a template, you can check out this free training:

If that doesn't help, you may want to look at live, in-person online training/consultation.

I have just done exactly what you have said, and it works very well to import paragraph format from one document to another. But, how to have this tag automatically (without importing it each time) in all document I will create ?

Add it to the template document you use to create new docs.

Have you created a book file for the other documents?

If so, select the documents in the book, and use File>Import>Formats. Make sure you select the document WITH the tag at the top of the dialog box (the file must be open). Then select what you want to synchronize and click OK.

I suggest you use "pessimistic" settings in the import formats dialog box--that is, only select what you know you want to snyc; don't leave everything selected. In this case, only paragraph formats (unless you connected any character formats).
