I’m have a terribly hard time formatting my HTML5 output of the giant-book (600pp) we’re creating.  I’ve scoured the internet and keep coming up empty trying to figure out the following layout issues in the HTML5 output…

  • Every FM document has its own folder and html-page in the HTML5 output, vice having a hierarchy of content. There are no indents whatsoever in the HTML5 output...
  • The FM documents are organized in a Book and the order of those FM documents is how I want the book to read…however, many (not all) of the FM documents show up out of order in the HTML5 output Table of Content page
  • None of my GlossaryTerms are showing on the HTML5 Glossary page
    Correct answer FrameMaker-dk

The navigational structure in the HTML5 output is based on your FrameMaker TOC and the settings you stipulate for topics in the settings file. In order to be more specific, it would be a help if you could share some screendumps showing what you are attempting to do.

The glossary only works if you have inserted glossary markers in the FrameMaker files

Use paragraph and character styles, then map those styles and others in the HTML5 output settings.

Have you tried changing the output template? FrameMaker comes with three different skins for output.

I have a bunch of templates here, but FrameMaker also comes with some builtin templates.

Is your content properly split up into separate topics in the HTML5 output? Is there a TOC in the FM book? What does your Settings screen show for generating the output?

FM documents hold all the content.  They are properly formatted and organized...

The HTML5 output TOC link shows a list of topics akin to th eFM documents...but the list is disorganized...and each HTML5 topic has a storage-folder that I have to open, then click the topic link...

unfortunately, i cannot show any pictures of my setup as the program/computer is on a network not connected to the internet...

"unfortunately, i cannot show any pictures of my setup as the program/computer is on a network not connected to the internet..." - surely you can take screnshots and save them as a file & then copy them off via USB key to the machine you're connecting to the Forum with?
