I thank everyone in advance. My question is as the title states, I need the imported files saved to the document not the file location on my pc as it will be used by others.  The issue is when copy pasting some files the appear hazy and not easy on the eyes so we imported them from the original pdf and they look nice but when I save the fininshed product and someone else opens it they do not have the imported figures.  Is there a way to save the file to the document. file size is not an issue.

    • Export Copied Graphics

export embedded graphics into a directory and link as a reference.

    • Imported Graphics

embed referenced graphic, scale proportionally and export a copied graphic to a directory.

These are two wonderful features of the TOOLBOX for® FrameMaker 7.x, 8.x or 9.x:

How exactly were graphics imported from the PDFs, i.e. when you select the Graphics > Object Properties for one of these graphics, what does it say under the Facets section?

With FM, it's still not a good idea to embed all graphics in the files. FM has been known to spontaneoulsy "lose" a graphic this way and all you will see is a grey box. If you've distrubted these, then recepieent will no longer have access to the graphic. You might want to have a look at Bruce Foster's Archive plug-in, that may give you an alternative for distributing a documentation set. See http://home.comcast.net/~bruce.foster/Archive.htm

I am importing the figures from a PDF file directly into FrameMaker, the issue is there are to many users and entirly to many figures/images (over 25,000 increasing daily) to keep any kind of database.  What I need is the when importing the figure it will stick to the page not just a picture from a file location, I understand we may randomly lose something here and there but need a way to keep the information with the Specifcation (FrameMaker Document).

And the answer to the first question as to how FM sees your PDF content is...?

If it is imported by copy, you should see Facets = PDF and Referenced File: = No File.
