Question

Inconsistent messages about missing fonts

Hello,

I have noticed inconsistencies in the information (messages) about missing fonts between Console view and Fonts pod.

Sometimes console has more items with missing fonts. I have even tried to find them according to names in console, but without a success (I have searched through application and through MIF).

What can be the cause of that? What is the difference between these two functions? Is console information more accurate or perhaps it shows false positive occurrencies (but if so, why)?

Files I work with sometimes had been converted in the past, some contain XML structure.

I have workaround solution to get rid off the messages (unchecking Remember missing fonts function), but I would like to understand the logic of mentioned functions.

Could you please help with this?

Thank you in advance 🙂

Missing fonts may appear if - for instance - a paragraph / character format is using that specific font. The format may not be used at all in the document, but its mere precense can lead FrameMaker to assume, that at some time you might be missing these fonts.

Thank you for your answer. I have checked all Paragraph and Character styles on list and I didn't notice name of missing font there. Is this possibility, that conversion from other version or other file format may be problematic here?

IIRC, the missing fonts message may also be triggered by fonts associated with graphics too.
