Installing FM8 on USB memory

I had FM7.1 installed on a USB memory and ran it from there. Now when I tried to do the same with FM8 it wouldn't allow me. Anyone who knows the reason why? And, even more important: Anyone who knows any workaround?

    I think FM 8 prefers to be on the boot drive. It is the way the Adobe
    has been writing their programs and I think the way MS (and Apple)
    prefers things these days.
