Question

Integrating the correct versions of Frame and Webworks Publisher

Hey Gang,

I have noticed that several posters are in the same boat as I.
There were some procedures posted a few years ago describing how to get webworks 2003/7 to hand shake with different version of Frame 6/7.
Specifically, I am trying to get Webworks Pro 7 to work with Frame 7.1.

I have hard copy of the procedures I can share but a couple of files are required as well. (In my case wwpfm7.dll) Quadralay provided these .dll files before they dropped support for anything other than the latest and newly expensive release of ePublisher.

I also noticed that some posters have this configuration running so they must have the .dlls on their systems. Anyone care to share a wwpfm7.dll
file. I don't think Quadralay would care........;-)

Regards,

Richard

    Richard,

Strangely enough, I just discovered I'm in the same boat as you. Did you ever get your hands on the file? Nice of WebWorks to be so accommodating, huh?

    Yup.
And at the bottom of that page is:

"If you are an existing ePublisher customer and need to download a previous version of ePublisher please submit a support request."

    That link leads to:
    http://www.quadralay.com/Technical_Assistance/My_Cases/

What happens when you request a download on that page?

    Hey Art,

Thanks getting back with me. I found a link on the Quadralay support forum that sounds encouraging but just points to the ePublisher support page.

I just need one .dll file to get WW Pro 7 to talk with Frame 7 so I
will not be purchasing a maintenance contract.

Is there anyone out there using the old moldy WebWorks Pro 7 with Frame 7?

Did the link on the Quadralay site to download previous versions not work?

    Hi Michael,

Thanks for your help. Unfortuantely, it looks like I need to find
the wwpfm7.dll file specifically for my situation.

    Hi Michael,

Thanks for joining in. Yes, these are the same instructions that I have. My problem is that I do not have the wwpfm7.dll file.
I have .dlls for frame 5.5 and 6.0 but not 7.

If someone would like to share the wwpfm7.dll file, I think I will be in business.

    Regards,

Basically WWP needs to talk to FrameMaker and vice versa. This is the working situation on my machine:

In the maker.ini locate the [APIClients]
section and make sure that you have the following entry

    WWP87=Standard,WebWorks Publisher 2003 Plugin,C:\Programme\Quadralay\WebWorks Publisher 2003 for FrameMaker\bin\wwpfm7.dll,all

Check and adapt the name of the path and DLL you have precisely! This allows FrameMaker to "talk" to WWP. Now the other way round:

Starting with Publisher Pro 6.0, you'll need to modify your registry by running regedit from your Start menu. When the Registry Editor opens, navigate to the following folder:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Quadralay\WebWorks Publisher 2003 for FrameMaker\8.0

In this folder, double-click on FrameMakerClass and modify the Value to be:

    FrameFamily7.0MdiFrame

Then modify the FrameMakerPath to be:

    C:\Programme\Adobe\FrameMaker7.1\FrameMaker.exe

Check and adapt the path and file names.

    HTH,

    Hey Art,

I think you are correct. These files should be on the WW standard CD.
I just do not have the CD any more. wwpfm7.dll should also be in Prgram Files\Quadralay\Webworks Publisher Professional Edition\bin
for existing Frame 7 WW Pro 7 users

    Regards,

    Richard
