Hi,

Immediately when trying to publish books or separate documents after updating to FM 17.0.5 all attemps crash with Internal error 17054. Have mif-washed and also tested on local machine. Working with structured FM.

Any hints?

Best regards,

Mats

    Hi,

Jeff listed already a number of questions and suggestions.

Does FrameMaker crash, when you only publish these covers?

Does it make a difference, when you publish via Distiller or via the FrameMaker PDF engine? (You can change this in the Publish pod. Select PDF and edit the Settings file.)

Did you already save these cover files with FrameMaker 17.0.5?

Can you remove some items from these cover files and try again? For example graphics files?

You can also copy everything from a problematic cover file and paste this in a working file.

    Best regards, Winfried

    Winifred, Jeff:

Thanks for your comments. It seems it was related to a graphic inside a graphic frame inside an anchored frame. When importing it as a graphic frame only, FM does not crash anyore. Strange behavior!

In case anyone is here from Google like me, I was having this issue as a result of accidentally using the wrong settings file that wasn't using Adobe Distiller like I usually do. Enabling it again fixed it.

This happening on all docs or just specific ones? Was it working before or is this the first time trying to publish? Updating the book throws no messages or issues? Have you tried renaming your Preferences folder and restarting FM?

    • Further investigation indicate that two specific non-structured covers are problematic. These worked fine when publishing the FM books prior to the update, but make FM crash now.
    • I've tested another structured publication (with a non-structured cover), which seems to work fine.
    • Renamed Prefs folder, restarted FM, restarted computer, but same problem.

Surprised that the MIF wash doesn't solve it though.

Ok, so it sounds like you've got it narrowed down to these 2 unstructured docs - does ditching them & recreating them have an impact? If it works for another & not for these, then there's got to be some difference(s) that is/are the culprit.

I only work with unstructured FM so I have no idea if mixing & matching is a good idea or not in the Structured world.
