Is Adobe Acrobat XI compatible with Framemaker 8?

Installing the trial version of Acrobat has uninstalled the Adobe pdf printer instance from my Framemaker 8 installation. I can no longer make pdf's with Framemaker! Can these two Adobe products run on the same machine? How do I get Framemaker working again - do I have to reinstall?

No, you can't have both Acrobat and FrameMaker's PDF Creation add-on

installed on the same computer. They break each other. You may need to

go to Control Panel and be sure that the PDF Creation add-on has been

completely uninstalled, then repair or reinstall Acrobat to fix things.

You can definitely create PDFs using Acrobat XI and FrameMaker 8, if you

print to the Adobe PDF virtual printer. If I recall correctly, though,

Save as PDF will be broken. This is because somewhere around Acrobat v8,

Adobe changed the location of various support files for Acrobat. So

older versions of FM will still be looking in the old, wrong locations

    for them.

In the event that it comes to a work-around, what version of Windows are you running on?

If Windows 7, is it Pro, Enterprise or Ultimate?

    re: Windows 7. Professional

Worst case scenario is that you could download XP Mode (a virtual machine) and re-install the legacy Adobe stuff in that (I run FM7, Acro5, Ps6 and IL9 that way on Win7P/64). I wrote up the whole process here.
