Question

Is it not possible to have proper previews of svg files?

All the numbers in this graphic are svg files, but they are being previewed incorrectly. There is no white background outside of the circles. They print correctly, but the poor preview is misleading. The same svg files are being previewed correctly in InDesign, though.

Is it not possible to make FM preview this stuff correctly?

For the benefit of anyone with current SVG experience in FM (not me), can you clarify that the numbers are separate SVG elements from the underlying ship graphic.

    Then, are the circled numbers:
    SVG outlines
    SVG vectors
SVG text numbers with circles added
SVG text as natively-circled Unicode? ⑤

The svg files are all saved out of Adobe Illustrator. I have attached some of the files here. All circles are merely circles with a white fill and a colored stroke. Text is outlined. And yes - the numbers are all separate svg files - not part of the underlying ship graphic.

I'm wondering if you have your background set to white instead of transparent?

I don't know Illustrator much at all, but the graphic designer I work with exports his SVG files with a transparent background for my use, and this is not an issue I've run into.
