Is it possible to regenerate a TOC without losing formatting?

Hi,

Is it possible to generate a TOC first, then apply paragraph designs to it and afterwards regenerate the TOC when you have made changes - without losing the formatting of the TOC?

    No, when I update my Book it always recreates an unformatted TOC.

    Should I disable "Generate Table of Contents, Lists, and Indexes" when updating a Book?
