Issue with FM version 11

Hello,

We at MacGregor are having problems opening a larger file (20699KB) using FM version 11. An error message pops up (could not upload it here for some reason..). The exact same file can be opened using FM 7.1 (the older version), without any problems. We have to scale down the file alot to be able to open it in FM 11.

We all have good computers, so that's not the issue causing this.

What’s the reason for this issue and how can it be solved asap?

Thanks in advance!

Regards
Abbe Al-Delemi

From the size of the file, you probably have all of your graphics embedded (imported by copy or simply pasted) rather than imported by reference. FM needs a lot of temp file space when working with graphics, so ensure that your system TEMP area has lots of space and that you don't have overly aggressive anti-virus software trying to grab the various pieces that FM writes there.

The alternative is to strip out the graphics using your older version of FM. Rick Quatro has a FrameScript that will export all internal graphics and relink them as external references. For contact info, see: http://www.frameexpert.com/index.htm

What was the platform (Mac, Unix, Windows) for the 7.1 version?

What Windows for the FM11 version, and 32- or 64-bit?

    What patch level of FM11?

What does the error dialog say?

Obscure bug check: if the former platform was not Windows, there's some chance the file might have had a comma in the file name or path. This causes errors on Windows.

Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bits then and now.

I'm not quiet sure how to look up the patch level of FM11.

The error message says: "Internal Error 11004, 10382068, 10641184, 10601742. FramMaker has detected a serious problem and must quit."
It then says which file causes this error (in this case the large file), and that I should report to you about it.
