Hello,

I am trying to import a TOC format from a sample TOC template which we created earlier, but after importing tabstop/tablead is not taking automatically, eventhough tabstop is setted in the paragraph format. Its taking tablead by manually pressing the tab button in keyboard, there are more 32 pages of TOC so I cannot do it manually for each line, please help with this issue.

For more details please check the images.

In reference page tablead is showing

But, in body page no tablead between paratext and page number

Paragraph settings is proper

Tabstop is also showing correct

Seeking towards your assistance.

Hello All,

Unfortunately updating the book doesn't fix this issue, But as i tried to re-create it after importing the format from the template works for me to fix this issue, So, I need to repeat the procedure twice, like I have created TOC once and imported the format from the template, and again need to delete and recreating the TOC will solve this issue.

Thank you for all your support  😊

Good that this works now.

It would be interesting to know which format was needed. Paragraph formats, reference pages, master pages?

And what exactly was not correct.

Anyway, I wish you and all other forum colleagues a Merry Christmas!

Just reiterating @Winfried Reng's answer: reference page changes don't take effect until you update your book. If it works correctly when you press the tab key on the body pages, then you have the tab stop defined correctly.

Hi,

Your reference page looks good. Therefore I assume that you just have to update your book and the TOC to get the proper tabs between the headings and the page numbers.

If this does not help, then it could be that the your text frame is less wide than the text frame on your reference page. Then the tabs would be ignored. In that case you would have to adjust the positions of the tab stops.

However, update your book first!

Best regards

Hi,

I tried both methods still problem does exist, as I said before tablead is working manually when I press the tab button, But there are more than 32 pages and it's very difficult to go to each line and press the tab manually, so I am looking for auto functionality.

Hi,

OK. Then the tab stops are correct.

And also the tabs on the reference page are correct.

However, did you update the book? FrameMaker insert the tabs which are defined on the reference pages only when you update the book.

Best regards
