Question

Keep with previous

I was wondering if it is possible to use an attribute in elements such as the fig element in order to force them to appear with their previous element in the text. Currently, I am doing this by using the KeepWithPrevious  element in the EDD; see here. Consequently, all the figures tend to stick to their previous element. This can be sometimes undesirable. However, in my opinion it would be more appropriate to use an attribute in the fig element for doing this. This way it would be possible to select which figure is to appear with the previous element. I appreciate any help to achieve this.

Hadih,

Your solution is correct. The text format rules are applied in the order they appear. Since paragraph formats have values for all the paragraph properties, if you apply a rule that sets one or more individual properties and then a rule that applies an entire format, the second rule overwrites anything applied by the first one.

Hi Lynne, could you please explain how I can define an attribute for the fig (or any other element) that I can use whenever I want? An attribute that does what KeepWithPrevious does. Currently my solution is global rather than selective.
