Hello,

Does someone know how to put in a lambda character? I have Framemaker 7.0 and the document I'm working on is non-structured. OS is Win XP Pro. All help and suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!

be sure to double-check that the symbol still looks as you expect if you are generating PDFs

Bear, be sure to double-check that the symbol still looks as you expect if you are generating PDFs. Folks occasionally have problems where the symbol looks fine in FM but it doesn't get generated correctly in the PDF output, usually due to incorrect settings in Distiller.

Hi Bear,

You could also try using the Equations pallete to insert the lambda symbol in para text. Here are the steps you could try:

1. Place the cursor where you want to insert the character.
2. Select Special > Equations
3. From the Equations drop-down list, select New Small eqaution. An Eq frame is added with a ? mark.
4. Click the lambda symbol from the buttons in the Equations palette. ? is replaced by the lambda symbol.
5. Shrinkwrap the equation shortcut Esc m p.

This should insert just the lambda character inline with the para text.

Hope this helps.

Bear,

As Mike suggests, try the Symbol font.

Create a character style that has everything set to AsIs except for
the FontFamily, which should be set for Symbol. Then enter either
upper or lower-case "L" and apply the character tag with your Symbol
entry to it.

In FrameMath a \lambda will create a lambda. You can also use the symbol
font or many other fonts that might have a lambda character.
