Question

Left pane remains hidden when HTML5 search is executed from Search field in header

HTML5 output is generated with Frame 2022 version 17 using the Azure Blue template. Is there a way to tweak the template to force the display of a hidden left panel (containing search results) when a search is executed from the Search field in the header of the html page? As it is, executing a search when the left panel is hidden leads you to believe the search is not working at all, since no results are presented.

The Azure template is a bit dated. What about when you publish using some of the other skins?

Thanks, Matt. I have used that template for many, many years. This is the first “glitch” I’ve encountered that I couldn’t resolve. I’ll be looking at some of the other skins soon.

I too have love for Azure...I’ve used it as the base for a number of demos, videos, and course lessons.

However, I believe Indigo (in Fm) has some advantages.

As I mentioned, Rh has a number of formats that are slick, but they require linking or porting content over to Rh for publishing.

As a test, if you use another Template style, are you getting the same issue appearing?

I have not tried a different template. I will try in the next day or two if I can.

Poking fun at @Jeff_Coatsworth  here...I’m surprised he hasn’t already suggested the Fm to Rh workflow...Rh has a number of really cool output templates that stand out over Fm’s output skins.

I sounds to me like your window size is the problem. If you scale the window, the site will hide the left pane. I expect this behaviour can be modified because it is about a “breaking point” for scaling. What resolution is your monitor and how big is it? Have you tried looking at your html5 output on your phone?

Thanks for the reply. My question stems from some of our customers reporting that the search field doesn’t work when the left pane is hidden. It really isn’t a resolution or scaling issue. It is more of a problem in the design of the template itself. Executing a search using the field in the header should trigger the display of the results in the left pane if that pane is hidden. I’m trying to find a way to adjust something in the template files or create some kind of script that forces the pane to display upon search execution.

Do you have the same issue across browsers? I just did a quick test and was not able to replicate the issue.  Have you tried building a new sts file? If you like, I can do a quick test on some of your files.
